Regarding impeachment, President Andrew Johnson served out Abraham Lincoln’s term and was known to be a racist and involved in some of the worst aspects of Reconstruction attempts. According to “The Impeachers” by Brenda Wineapple, Johnson barely escaped impeachment conviction by narrow voting.

New, new book club book for May will be The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels by Jon Meacham. This replaces The Case Against Standardized Testing by Alfie Kohn which replaced Brief Answers to the Big Questions by Stephen Hawking.

Because of the really cold weather on the date scheduled for January's Book Club, the January book (Becoming by Michelle Obama) was rescheduled for March and subsequent books were moved back a month.
