Maureen Reedy Campaign (Ohio House - 24th District)

Maureen Reedy photoMaureen Reedy is a 29-year veteran teacher at Wickliffe Progressive Community School in Upper Arlington City Schools and resides in Upper Arlington with her husband Tom, a teacher in Bexley City Schools. She has two children, Jackie and Dan, both of whom are students at the Ohio State University. Reedy grew up in Columbus, attended Columbus Public Schools and earned her undergraduate and master degrees and post graduate studies in Education from the Ohio State University. Reedy has been active with the Upper Arlington Education Association and the Ohio Education Association at the local and state levels. She has served for many years as the chairperson of the Fund for Children and Public Education and has served as the chairperson of the Legislative Action Committee with the Upper Arlington Education Association.

Additionally, she has led discussions with teams of teachers in the past decade in meetings with state legislators focused on issues that impact students, teachers and education. Reedy has given multiple testimonies to both Senate and House committees at the Statehouse in the past decade to advocate for quality education and opportunities for students in the state of Ohio.

Reedy has participated numerous times as a member of Strategic Planning Committees in the Upper Arlington City Schools and was selected as Upper Arlington’s Teacher of the Year and Ohio’s Teacher of the Year in 2002 representing teachers and students in Ohio at the state and national levels. Most recently, Reedy has held a leadership role in the statewide movement to repeal Senate Bill 5 by speaking at rallies and town hall meetings, writing articles for newspapers, appearing in news interviews and organizing canvassing and phone banking events to speak with community members on behalf of students, educators, police, firefighters, nurses in preserving quality health, safety and education services for Ohio’s citizens and quality of life for Ohio’s middle class.
